West Ham United starlet Gideon Kodua is a really special player but he’s living in the shadow of Divin Mubama.

The West Ham under-18s suffered heartbreak at the Etihad against Manchester City last night, losing 2-1 after extra-time in the Under-18 Premier League National final.

However, there were plenty of positives, one being the performance of Gideon Kodua, 18. Divin Mubama has received all the plaudits over the past year or so – and that’s understandable.

The two strikers could form a formidable duo for the Hammers over the next decade or so.

18-year-old striker Mubama is a real talent, and I expect him to play a role in the first-team next season. However, Kodua is just as exciting as his teammate in my opinion.

And next season could be the time for him to burst onto the scene and finally move out of Mubama’s shadow…

West Ham youngster Gideon Kodua is an unbelievable talent

The 18-year-old, who can play anywhere along the front-line or even a bit deeper if need be, scored a terrific goal for the Hammers youngsters at the Etihad last night.

He was by far and away our best player on the night in my opinion – what a talent we have on our hands.

All the talk in East London features around Divin Mubama though. Kodua has seriously gone under the radar over the past 12 months but next season could be his chance to move out of Mubama’s shadow.

The teenage forward has racked up 14 goals and seven assists in 29 games for the Hammers under-18s this season (Transfermarkt). He is a great all-round player and has pace and technical ability in abundance.

Most importantly though, he has real power and has the physique and stature required to be a big success in the Premier League.

If Gideon Kodua continues to work hard and applies himself properly both on and off the pitch, then he will clearly have an extremely exciting future ahead of him in the game with West Ham United.

The future is very bright for the Hammers. And with Kodua and Mubama coming through, we could be on to something very special indeed over the course of next few years.
