West Ham star Michail Antonio insists ‘sharp’ Newcastle ace Aleksander Isak doesn’t disgrace Erling Haaland comparisons.

It was billed the ‘FFP Derby’ when Michail Antonio’s West Ham and Callum Wilson’s Newcastle United clashed last time out.

The FFP representing the popular Footballer’s Football Podcast the West Ham and Newcastle pals do together.

There was lots of trash talking prior to the Hammers and Newcastle drawing 2-2 at the London Stadium last Sunday.

Super sharp shooter shooting shots

But on the pitch one striker stole the show – and it was neither of them.

With West Ham leading 1-0, Magpies forward Aleksander Isak scored two to turn the game on its head.

The Swede nearly added a third but was denied by a post before Mohammed Kudus gave West Ham a deserved share of the spoils at the death.

Isak earned praise from Eddie Howe and David Moyes after the game.

That’s nothing new for a player who has lived with big billing from a young age.

But it’s never been quite as gargantuan as recent comparisons – mostly from Newcastle fans – with Manchester City’s goal machine Erling Haaland.

Many have scoffed at new Geordies hero Isak being mentioned in the same breath as Man City’s Haaland.

But West Ham star Antonio insists ‘sharp’ Newcastle ace Isak doesn’t disgrace those Haaland comparisons.

Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, West Ham’s 33-year-old hitman Antonio raved about his Newcastle counterpart after it was put to him that Manchester City’s Haaland was ‘on another level’.

“There’s levels to it, but I think he (Isak) is a quality player,” Antonio said.

‘Aleksander the great – Newcastle star lives up to Haaland comparisons but Man City will always create more chances’ says West Ham forward

“I’m not going to lie to you, he’s quality. The man is SHARP, oh, he is sharp.

“Quick, nimble, good with his feet – great feet. Obviously I fouled him myself in the game, I had to kick man down, I kicked him down myself yea. Man tried to cut inside I was like ‘na slow your roll buddy’, picked up a yellow.

“I feel like he is quality. But obviously its the difference in teams isn’t it? Haaland is going to get loads moe opportunities (playing for Man City compared to Isak playing for Newcastle) and he is a finisher. So I feel the fact Haaland is going to get more opportunities and he’s a finisher means he’s going to get more goals.”
