Simon Jordan has hit out at David Sullivan and Daniel Kretinsky over perceived lack of appreciation for David Moyes at West Ham.

In a modern football world where – rightly or wrongly – anyone can put their two pennies’ worth out into the ether, talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan stands out.

Because whether it’s discussing West Ham or any other matters relating to the Premier League, Jordan – more often that not – gets it spot on.

So when he does voice his opinion on the Hammers it is usually worth listening to.

And the West Ham board would do well to open their ears after he did just that in his latest Daily Mail column.

Because Jordan has hit out at David Sullivan and Daniel Kretinsky over a perceived lack of appreciation for David Moyes at West Ham.

The Scot, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is yet to have talks over a new deal. And Jordan says the club should be bending over backwards to keep Moyes long-term.

“These are halcyon days (for West Ham) and a large proportion of the credit goes to David Moyes,” Jordan said.

“He is the best thing that has happened to West Ham for a very long time. He showed great strength of character to take the job on again after being bumped out for Manuel Pellegrini in his first spell.

‘My word West Ham are lucky to have Moyes’

“It was a stroke of luck to get Moyes back and showed the measure of the man that he was prepared to have another go.

“He had been treated like a disposable razor by West Ham. He had come in, sharpened them up and when they thought he was blunt, was thrown out for a manager the owners thought was a big name for the fans.

“But the days of Moyes being disposable are over. He really is a man for all seasons because every season he has achieved something significant for West Ham — survival after the mess Pellegrini made of it followed by sixth, seventh and a trophy…

“This is someone who should be cherished and celebrated and my word West Ham are lucky to have him…

‘Tying Moyes down to a new, long term contract must now be a priority’

“This is now a top end football club. Everything seems to be aligned and West Ham are riding a wave of positivity. At the centre of it all is Moyes…

“Tying Moyes down to a new, long term contract must now be a priority. He is arguably one of the most capable managers in the Premier League with a reputation back to where it was when he left Everton.

“His current deal expires at the end of the season and if I was running that club, a new contract for Moyes would be top of my to-do list.”

West Ham have made a superb start to the new season off the back of winning their first trophy for 43 years.

And having pulled off what’s widely considered to have been one of the best windows in the Premier League over the summer, it’s no surprise to see West Ham being talked about in glowing terms.

Jordan – as ever – makes some salient points. But only Sullivan, Kretinsky and Moyes himself can make the pundit’s suggestion a reality.
