West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetrgui really has been a man on a mission in the summer transfer window so far.
Eight new players have arrived at West Ham and six have left, with Julen Lopetegui having embarked on a huge squad overhaul at the London Stadium.
After some truly sensational signings, the 57-year-old’s attention is reportedly turning to shifting on some of the deadwood.
However, there could still be more room for incomings at the London Stadium.
Lopetegui admitted only yesterday that he actually wants two top-class players in every single position.
That bold admission proves that the Spaniard’s transfer business this summer may well not be finished just yet.
And now that notion has been backed up, with one of the top journalists in the business lifting the lid on a potential move for another striker.
West Ham search for new striker with Julen Lopetegui on a mission
The Hammers signed Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.
The 31-year-old will clearly be our starting centre-forward this season, but could further additions be en route to East London?

Fabrizio Romano spoke to GiveMeSport about the Hammers’ exceptional summer transfer business so far.
And the Italian addressed whether or not Lopetegui could be back in the market for another centre-forward.
Romano said, “With West Ham, I am not ruling out anything, because this summer, they are on fire, but at the moment I’m not aware of fresh contacts, for example, on Jhon Duran and all these players.“
“At the moment it’s still quiet there. They’re very happy with Niclas Fullkrug, they believe they have enough options up front. So let’s see, maybe if there is an opportunity.”
Whilst the Italian hasn’t heard of anything concrete just yet, the Hammers are obviously keeping an open mind about conducting further business.
I love how Romano says, ‘I’m not ruling out anything’. West Ham are clearly still very active in the summer transfer window, despite having completed the majority of our business already.
The thing is, if Danny Ings and Michail Antonio move on, or even just one of them leaves, then Lopetegui will actually need to sign another centre-forward.
We cannot afford to be left short in that position this season. What happens if Fullkrug suffers a long-term injury?
I certainly don’t want Ings or Antonio starting too many games this season.
Julen Lopetegui definitely needs another striker at West Ham – preferably someone young with huge potential who can learn from Fullkrug.
Could that man be Jhon Duran? We shall have to wait and see.
