West Ham United’s hopes of signing Khephren Thuram from Nice as a replacement for Declan Rice this summer have suffered a really big blow.

Khephren Thuram is an unbelievably talented young central midfielder, and he would be a superb replacement for Declan Rice, if the 24-year-old does finally move on from the London Stadium this summer.

Thuram would be my number one choice to replace Declan Rice at West Ham at the end of the season.

The French youngster has absolutely everything needed to succeed with the Hammers in the Premier League. However, West Ham face a huge problem if we are to bring him to the London Stadium…

West Ham told to pay massive fee for Declan Rice replacement

Nice will demand a whopping €60 million (£53 million) for Khephren Thuram this summer according to L’Equipe and translated via Get Football News France.

Now, that sounds like a lot of money and the Hammers board will no doubt balk at the 22-year-old’s asking price.

However, I strongly feel that that fee will represent fantastic value for the club in the long run.

Thuram is an elite talent and would be a sensational addition for West Ham.

In 33 Ligue 1 games for Nice this season, the Frenchman has bagged two goals and four assists. During those appearances, the 22-year-old has averaged 1.5 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per match. He has made 38.5 passes per game on average and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 86.7% (Who Scored).

It will be nigh on impossible for West Ham to replace Declan Rice, especially by signing one player.

However, if Moyes brings Thuram to the London Stadium this summer, as well as someone like Ibrahim Sangare, then I don’t see any reason why we can’t be in a better position going forward.

There will be life after Rice, and as long as our recruitment team are on the ball, there is plenty of value to be had out there this summer.
