West Ham United were hammered 5-0 by Liverpool at the London Stadium on Sunday evening.

And the reactions of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan and vice-chairman Karren Brady seemed to be ominous for Julen Lopetegui.

Liverpool ran rings around us at the London Stadium, and yesterday’s game was the eighth time this season where we have conceded three or more goals – not good enough.

Lopetegui has overseen a genuine decline at the London Stadium, and that’s astounding really when you consider just how bad we were during the second half of last season.

In my opinion, there’s no way the Spaniard should still be in the job.

He hasn’t got a clue what he is doing and the damage being caused will take a long, long time to recover from.

So is there any chance at all that he could be sacked before our next game away at Manchester City?

Sullivan and Brady react after Liverpool’s fifth goal vs West Ham

Lopetegui is surely under intense pressure from the board now.

With games to come against Manchester City, Aston Villa, Fulham, Crystal Palace and then Aston Villa again, the outlook seems bleak for the Spaniard.

But what are the Hammers hierarchy really thinking about Lopetegui right now?

It was only a few weeks ago when the board held a meeting to discuss the 58-year-old’s future, and decided to stick with him in the end.

Surely his time will be up soon.

Lopetegui was the wrong appointment from day one, and the board can surely see that now.

Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas lifted the lid on how Sullivan and Brady reacted when Liverpool scored their fifth goal against us:

When the camera panned to majority shareholder David Sullivan during the Liverpool match, he was deep in conversation with his eldest son, Dave. Vice-chair Karren Brady, however, was motionless.

That’s very interesting if you ask me.

Neither Sullivan or Brady can be happy with what Lopetegui has served up this season.

They may well be clinging to the hope that things will improve under the Spaniard, but there is zero logic to that notion.

I personally think that the writing is on the wall for the former Wolves and Sevilla boss, and it has been for quite some time now.

The 5-0 slapping at home to Liverpool has left Sullivan, Brady and co with a big decision to make.
