West Ham nightmare with La Liga side reportedly in a strong position to sign Spaniard before D-day

West Ham United face a big problem during the final few days of the transfer window, with deadline day bearing down on us.

Julen Lopetegui has made huge changes at West Ham already this summer, with eight new players having been brought in so far.

With deadline day fast approaching, the Hammers squad is so close to being good enough to push for a top six finish.

The West Ham fans are buzzing with excitement about what the future holds for us, and the Hammers boss has insisted that he’s after even more new signings.

However, in order for that to be a reality, the Spaniard needs to get rid of some of the fringe players on huge salaries.

If Lopetegui does manage to move on the likes of Kurt Zouma, Maxwel Cornet, Danny Ings and Nayef Aguerd before the transfer window slams shut, he definitely should be able to bring one or two more top quality signings to the London Stadium.

That said, it’s very much up in the air right now as to whether he will be able to actually do that or not.

West Ham nightmare after Carlos Soler deadline day update

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler is believed to be firmly on the Hammers’ radar.

In fact, it was claimed yesterday that the only reason holding up the deal to bring Carlos Soler to West Ham is the fact that we’re struggling to get rid of Nayef Aguerd to free up salary and squad space.

Lopetegui is clearly keen to bolster his central midfield ranks before the transfer window closes in around 60 hours.

However, the perfect man for the job – Soler – is perhaps not the cut and dry signing we all thought he would be.

According to a report from Que Deportes, Real Sociedad have ‘become the best placed team’ to sign Soler before deadline day.

Having been so close to signing the brilliant Spaniard, losing out on him now would really hurt.

He’s literally the perfect player for Lopetegui’s system, and missing out on his signature all because we couldn’t shift Aguerd would be incredibly painful.

West Ham need Carlos Soler desperately

The 27-year-old is an exceptionally gifted footballer, and he possesses the skillset that we need to really take us on to another level entirely.

With Lucas Paqueta facing an incredibly uncertain future right now, getting someone like Soler in before any judgement is made on the Brazilian would be the smart move.

That way, we will not be held to ransom by other clubs if we sell Paqueta for a huge profit, or if he’s handed a lengthy ban.

Aside from Paqueta’s uncertain future, having Soler will provide Lopetegui with a great option to mix things up if the Brazil international is not performing.

The PSG man’s technical ability, passing range and incredible vision should offer us exactly what we miss when Paqueta isn’t playing.

West Ham signing Carlos Soler before deadline day is an absolute must as far as I’m concerned, and losing out on him to Real Sociedad should not be an option.
