West Ham United have been chasing Jean-Clair Todibo for around a month now, but it seems as though we’ve finally given up our pursuit of the Frenchman.
Jean-Clair Todibo was first linked with a move to West Ham at the start of this month, when it emerged that we were prepared to offer big money for the 24-year-old.
However, Todibo preferred a move to Juventus from the start, despite the fact that the Turin giants weren’t prepared to pay what the Hammers were for his signature.
That saga has been rolling on for at least three weeks now, but a big update has just come to light.
West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui has apparently finally switched his attention from the Nice star to someone a lot closer to home.
And it’s actually good news for the Hammers fans as far as I’m concerned.
West Ham finally switch attention from Jean-Clair Todibo
So the Nice centre-back finally appears to be off the menu.
And Lopetegui has apparently wasted absolutely no time in lining up a move to sign someone else this summer.
The Spaniard is looking closer to home this time, with a move for a Premier League star thought to be on his radar.

According to a report from Tutto Juve, West Ham’s failure to sign Todibo has seen Lopetegui switch his attention to Trevoh Chalobah – who’s available for around £25 million this summer.
I would take the 25-year-old Chelsea defender at the London Stadium every single day of the week – he’d be a superb partner for Max Kilman in the heart of our defence.
Chalobah has been firmly on the Hammers’ radar for a while now, and it was recently claimed that Lopetegui will have to sell one of Nayef Aguerd or Kurt Zouma in order to bring the Chelsea ace to East London.
Now West Ham have seemingly finally got over the obsession with Todibo and are fully focused on signing Chalobah.
Described as an ‘incredible’ defender by Football.London, the 25-year-old possesses blistering pace, is aerially dominant, and reads the game very well indeed.
He’s a central defender by trade, but can also operate as a right-back or even as a defensive midfielder if need be.
Signing Chalobah for just £25 million seems like a no-brainer for the Hammers as far as I’m concerned. He’s been left at home for Chelsea’s tour of the USA as well, so they clearly want him gone.
Jean-Clair Todibo would have been a great signing for West Ham, there’s no denying that, but Chalobah will be a worthy alternative.
