Tomas Soucek scored for West Ham United during our brilliant 2-0 win over Arsenal on Thursday night.
West Ham put in a top-class display against Arsenal, and Tomas Soucek played a key role in helping us pick up all three points.
The 2-0 win for the Hammers at the Emirates seemed liked a big turning point for us, and Jarrod Bowen has already highlighted how the mindset of the players has changed.
Soucek has obviously played a key role in that change, and David Moyes recently suggested that the 28-year-old’s performances this season have made it impossible to drop him.
The Czech Republic international now has eight goals in 27 games in all competitions to his name this season (Transfermarkt). Despite his obvious limitations with the ball at his feet, the former Slavia Prague man is vitally important to this team.
And he offered an insight into his impressive mentality, when speaking to reporters today…

Soucek shares what he told West Ham teammates pre Arsenal
The 28-year-old bagged his eighth goal of the season at the Emirates on Thursday night, helping us on our way to a 2-0 win.
And Soucek opened up on the incredibly positive thing that he told his teammates before the game against Arsenal kicked off, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I said to the guys that we could beat them, because we beat them in the Carabao Cup earlier this season. I think it was a similar performance to that game.”
Now that’s the kind of attitude I want from our players. It’s something that we’ve lacked for quite some time now.
Soucek certainly has a real winning mentality, having won two league titles and a cup with Slavia Prague and of course, the Europa Conference League with the Hammers.
The win against Arsenal should give Soucek and his West Ham teammates even more belief now, when we head into away games against the very best sides.
The 28-year-old is clearly a mentality monster and despite his quite obvious faults, he is undoubtedly a hugely important character at the London Stadium.
