West Ham fans will be fuming as Athletic share what Said Benrahma did during Liverpool defeat

Said Benrahma put in a truly horrendous performance for West Ham United against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

West Ham were hammered by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup quarter-final at Anfield two days ago, and Said Benrahma was one of the worst players on the pitch.

He has actually been heavily linked with an exit in the January transfer window, although a recent report claimed that he has rejected approaches from Saudi clubs in order to remain at the London Stadium.

Hammers boss David Moyes has barely played the 28-year-old this season, certainly not from the start of games, and has given him just 485 Premier League minutes action, and only 1,022 minutes in all competitions (Transfermarkt).

And after Benrahma’s woeful performance at Anfield, it’s easy to see why he isn’t a regular starter for West Ham anymore.

He didn’t have one single shot on goal, nor did he make a key pass. He had two unsuccessful touches and was dispossessed twice – one of those times led to a Liverpool goal. Benny only had 23 touches, made just 14 passes and recorded a woeful completion rate of 78.6%(Who Scored).

As if his performance wasn’t bad enough though, his attitude was even worse. The Algeria international had absolutely no fight in him and there was no courage or conviction in his performance.

Now the Hammers have seemingly made a big decision regarding his future at the London Stadium…

Said Benrahma could be sold by West Ham after Liverpool display

According to the Athletic, the former Brentford man could be moved on by Moyes in the January transfer window.

The football news website claims that as soon as it became apparent that the Hammers were about to make a substitution during our defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night, Benrahma began walking towards the dugout, without even knowing that it was him who was getting hooked.

That’s an abysmal attitude to have, and goes a long way to explaining why he has struggled so badly recently.

I have to say, I don’t want any of our players showing that kind of defeatist attitude. What chance did we have in a cup quarter-final with players like that out on the pitch? No chance at all is the answer.

Benrahma arrived at the London Stadium with a big reputation, and the West Ham fans were incredibly excited to see what he had to offer.

However, he has flattered to deceive on the whole. I have been one of the Algerian’s biggest supporters and defenders over the past couple of years, but there is no excusing his displays this season, especially the one against the Reds on Wednesday night.

Said Benrahma is clearly completely devoid of confidence right now – that shone through loud and clear during the Liverpool vs West Ham clash two days ago.

I think the best thing will be for him and the club to go their separate ways in January and according to the Athletic, that’s exactly what could happen.
