West Ham United fans will have been floating on cloud nine throughout the summer transfer window.
Julen Lopetegui has made eight new signings for West Ham so far, and he has admitted himself that he is not yet done.
The opening day defeat to Aston Villa brought everyone back down to earth, but the majority of fans understand we are a work in progress with Lopetegui at the helm.
The West Ham head coach will be able to bring success to the London Stadium, but only if he’s given time to bed his ideas in at the club.
The transfer business completed so far this summer proves how ambitious Lopetegui and the Hammers owners are.
We are definitely on the correct trajectory as a club, and there is one more thing we needed to do this summer to really put the cherry on the cake.
And that has apparently now been sorted out just as efficiently as all of our transfer business was.
Lewis Orford news will have West Ham fans buzzing
The Hammers faithful will be waking up with big smiles on their faces this morning.
That’s because Lewis Orford has just put pen to paper on a new five-year deal with the Hammers (The Athletic).

That is such great news for West Ham – the 18-year-old is one of the finest talents we have in the academy right now.
Lewis Orford was actually offered to Aston Villa earlier this summer, but the club decided to keep hold of him in the end.
That was a great decision as far as I’m concerned.
Orford possesses the talent needed to go on and become a star for the Hammers in the Premier League.
The teenager possesses incredible technical ability, is cool calm and collected with the ball at his feet and has a wonderful array of passing in his locker.
Loan move away perhaps
He came on leaps and bounds last season, and he has already trained with the first-team on multiple occasions.
However, breaking into the Hammers’ midfield this season will be almost an impossible task, especially if Carlos Soler joins.
I feel like a loan move to a Championship club with a manager who deploys a similar system to Lopetegui would be perfect for him.
A team like Leeds seems ideal for Orford, or Burnley perhaps.
The main thing for West Ham is that we have Lewis Orford tied down on a new deal until the summer of 2029.
Now the exciting thing will be watching how he develops over the next few years.
