West Ham United seem to have been handed a big boost regarding our hopes of signing a top-class midfielder in the summer.

Graham Potter is said to be planning a big squad revamp at the London Stadium in the summer, and rightly so.

The current West Ham squad is a terrible mish-mash of ageing mercenaries and players who are simply not good enough to be playing Premier League football.

Potter is said to be lining up a move to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer this summer.

And whilst the Hammers head coach definitely needs to sign a pacy striker, it could be argued that the addition of an elite central midfielder should be his main priority.

West Ham are definitely in for a few exciting names.

And the latest claim from Fabrizio Romano means that we might just have a big advantage in the race to sign one of them.

West Ham fans should be excited about Angel Gomes news

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign Angel Gomes on a free transfer in the summer.

Angel Gomes is firmly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, Tottenham are said to be keen on signing the former Manchester United star as well.

He has been incredible for Lille over the past couple of seasons.

And his fine form has led to four international caps for England.

Gomes is absolutely perfect for our midfield, with his incredible energy levels, supreme stamina and unrivalled technical ability.

So could Potter really bring him to the London Stadium?

This is where it gets interesting. The exceptional 24-year-old midfielder has just switched agencies to join the ROOF stable, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

Niclas Fullkrug and Mohammed Kudus West Ham’s secret weapons

West Ham currently have two players who are represented by ROOF – Mohammed Kudus and Niclas Fullkrug.

So if Graham Potter really does want to bring Angel Gomes to West Ham, he already has the perfect channels of communication with the Edmonton-born midfileder.

The Hammers should be going all out to sign the 24-year-old this summer.

Losing out to Tottenham in the race for his signature would be a major blow for us as far as I’m concerned.

And the club need to start boxing clever. Hopefully the owners use the fact that we have two players already on ROOF’s books to their advantage in the summer.

Angel Gomes is the man who could totally transform the way that West Ham play as a team.
