West Ham fans relentlessly taunted Brentford with three chants but they had a stinging response on and off the pitch.

West Ham came back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 only to throw it away and lose 3-2 in another poor performance at Brentford.

The Hammers were missing three key players but Brentford were without seven of their own. So David Moyes and his players can have no excuses here.

Three Premier League defeats on the bounce, four losses in the last five games, one win in the last seven top flight matches.

Dress it up whatever way you want, West Ham have let a promising start fade away along with their ambitions to challenge for the European spots.

Attentions now turn to Europe as West Ham welcome Olympiacos to the London Stadium next Thursday night.

But Europe was very much on the minds of the travelling supporters at Brentford.

West Ham fans relentlessly taunted Brentford with three chants but they had stinging response on and off the pitch.

The Hammers faithful were very noisy as always at the Bees’ G-tech home ground.

And they aimed three chants at Brentford almost on a loop.

‘Champions of Europe, we know what we are’ was followed by ‘Champions of Europe, you’ll never sing that’ and ‘Said Benrahma, he left ‘cos you’re s—‘.

‘You’re having a laugh’

Brentford fans did not have much by way of a response to those chants. Especially as West Ham scored an amazing equalisers through Mohammed Kudus and went ahead with a Jarrod Bowen strike from a brilliant Benrahma cross.

The Hammers faded in the second half, though, as the hosts scored twice, Benrahma was subbed off against his old side and it all fell apart.

That gave Brentford fans the chance to have the last laugh on and off the pitch.

Their response was to sing ‘Champions of Europe? You’re having a laugh’ and ‘Said Benrahma, he wants to come home’.

It’s looking like West Ham will have to be champions of Europe again if they want to play on the continent for a fourth consecutive season.
