The West Ham United fans have been hoodwinked by extenuating circumstances over the past few weeks.
The Hammers drew with Chelsea at the London Stadium this afternoon. A point against one of the traditional big six is a good result right?

When you look into it with context, it really wasn’t a great point. And the same can be said for our recent four-match unbeaten run.
West Ham have beaten Everton in the Premier League and Derby in the FA Cup and then drawn against Newcastle and Chelsea.
A decent return you might think. Upon close reflection though, we have big problems at the club in my opinion, and David Moyes is slowly sleepwalking this team towards a disaster…

Now, when we played Everton, they were unquestionably the worst team in the Premier League, with the worst manager in the division at the helm in the form of Frank Lampard. The performance was hardly inspiring either.
And then the FA Cup clash with Derby…we beat a LEAGUE ONE TEAM! The performance was decent but we really shouldn’t be having problems against League One sides anyway should we.
The Hammers went on to draw against Newcastle last weekend. Again, a fairly good point. However, Newcastle had their two best players missing – Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak. Also, the Magpies had a cup hangover, having qualified for the Carabao Cup final in midweek.
The one thing I will say is that the performance at St James’ Park was one of the better ones this season, and there were definitely positives to take from the game.
And finally we come to the draw with Chelsea today. In my opinion, it was an absolutely shocking performance from the Hammers, especially in the first-half.
The play was slow and turgid to watch whilst our passing was lazy and lacked any kind of potency. I will take the point but this was a Chelsea team that have not won away from home since October and have taken just six points form their last six Premier League games.
If David Moyes and his players don’t wake up soon, we could be in real trouble. We cannot afford to sit back, try and hit teams on the counter and nick a goal in the final 10 minutes. Other teams have wised up to us now. And I haven’t seen much in the last four games that gives me any kind of hope heading into the final third of the season.
