In fairness, the Blues will be gutted that they haven’t come away with all three points.

West Ham were really poor in truth and I’ll take the point all day long. It was the performance that was the really concerning thing.

Things could have been so much worse…

Rio Ferdinand delivers West Ham vs Chelsea penalty incident verdict

The Hammers fans’ hearts were in our mouths when Tomas Soucek seemingly handled the ball in the 89th minute inside his own penalty area.

However, the spot-kick was not given.

And Ferdinand delivered his verdict on the incident, when speaking on BT Sport today (Saturday February 11th, 2:43pm):

“It’s a definite stone-wall penalty, I just can’t understand how that hasn’t been given. Even you watch that, human eye tells you that’s a penalty.”

I have to agree with Rio there, it was a stone-wall penalty in my opinion, and we really got away with that decision.

Having said that, we have been on the wrong end of some really poor decisions this season, namely the one against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in September when we had a perfectly good goal ruled out by VAR.

Who knows, that might be the bit of luck that we need to really kick on this season.

The penalty incident during the West Ham vs Chelsea clash was a huge call, and fortunately for us, we earned a point from the game as a result.
