Gent left-back Archie Brown is thought to be a transfer target for West Ham United ahead of the summer.

West Ham United are believed to be chasing the signing of the 21-year-old Gent defender in order to provide more competition and cover for Emerson Palmieri.

According to a report from The Guardian, Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to bring the former Derby County academy graduate back to England from Belgium in the summer transfer window for around £15 million.

Chelsea, Juventus, AC Milan, Lyon and Nice are said to be in for his signature as well, so that in itself is evidence of just how good he is.

Brown has really impressed for Gent this season, and his playing profile is exactly what we need at West Ham right now…

West Ham signing Archie Brown would be incredible business

£15 million for a player with the 21-year-old’s outstanding ability and potential would be an unbelievable bargain.

In 19 Jupiler Pro League outings for Gent this season, he has bagged two assists and 2.3 dribbles per game. He has also averaged 1.2 tackles and one interception per match (Who Scored).

Brown is an incredible athlete, and he possesses absolutely rapid pace. He also has the stamina to get up and down the left hand flank for the duration of the game.

Emerson Palmieri has been in sensational form for West Ham this season, but it’s clear to see that Moyes has little to no competition or cover for the Italian left-back.

Signing Brown for £15 million would change all of that in an instant. The former Derby man would push the 29-year-old really hard and who knows, he might even make the ex-Chelsea man even better.

Archie Brown is still slightly raw and rough around the edges, but he has all of the ingredients needed to be a huge hit with West Ham in the Premier League.

And if we manage to win the race for his signature this summer, I have no doubts that he’ll end up being a brilliant player for us in the future.
