David Moyes has surely found the solution to a big problem at West Ham United in the shape of new signing Nikola Vlasic.

That’s because Moyes may now have West Ham’s new penalty taker in the absence of captain Mark Noble.

As well as being officially the longest serving one club man in European football, Noble also has the second best penalty conversion rate in top level WORLD football over the last two decades too.

But with the West Ham skipper featuring increasingly less frequently as he brings the curtain down on his Hammers career, finding someone reliable to fill in is a burning issues for Moyes.

Declan Rice, Jesse Lingard and Michail Antonio have all missed penalties for West Ham when deputising for Noble from the spot.

Moyes was happy to leave the penalty taker situation fluid last season.

But after Antonio’s miss at Newcastle in the opening game of the season, the Scot admitted West Ham need to settle on someone more permanent.

“Yeah, we have a little bit of an issue with it, I agree,” Moyes said after beating Newcastle when Tomas Soucek fired home the rebound to Antonio’s penalty miss.

“If it was like American football and you could bring a penalty taker on that would be Mark Noble. He is incredible, he doesn’t practice he keeps telling me he has one of the best records in Europe as far as completion goes and the amount of penalties he has taken.

“Nobes has always been very good but we have got to try and find a better solution and we will do. We are certainly in the process of finalising it.”

Well finalise it he has, on deadline day morning it seems. Because if video footage of new signing Vlasic is anything to go by, West Ham have surely found the answer to Moyes’s big penalty problem.

The £30m arrival has displayed unerring accuracy, power and confidence from the spot for CSKA Moscow as he contributed 51 goals and assists in 86 games.

West Ham’s new attacking midfield ace has scored nine and missed five of his 14 career penalties so far (transfermarkt).

But as West Ham fans will see from the videos below Vlasic hits the ball with similar venom to Hammers heroes Julian Dicks and Ray Stewart. In the first clip you can see Vlasic’s penalty from 4mins 20secs onwards.

And it should be noted Vlasic takes a mean free-kick too – giving West Ham another option for a shot on goal from fouls around the box.
