Jesse Lingard may have ended up staying at Manchester United but West Ham United fans have been getting excited by the arrival of his replacement Nikola Vlasic.

West Ham signed the Croatian attacking midfielder on deadline day morning in a deal reportedly worth over £30m including add ons.

David Moyes had made no secret of his desire to bring Lingard back to West Ham from Manchester United.

But when it became clear that was not going to happen, the Hammers moved for Vlasic – who has 51 goal contributions for CSKA Moscow in just 86 games.

West Ham fans excited by Vlasic signing as Lingard stays at Man United

Clips on YouTube show Vlasic to be a stocky, strong, skilful attacking midfielder with an eye for a pass and a goal.

He has a quick turn of pace too making him seemingly ideally suited to the Premier League.

As West Ham fans will know there is a big difference between doing it in Russia and doing it in the Premier League.

But Vlasic has also shone in Europe for CSKA as well as at international level with Croatia. And those are both sound barometers for his talent.

Video shows Hammers new boy tying £41m Red Devils star Varane in knots during Champions League win

And Hammers fans will be excited by video footage showing Vlasic destroying Man United’s £41m summer signing Raphael Varane in the Champions League.

Man United signed Varane from Real Madrid in their bid to close the gap on champions Manchester City.

But Vlasic will relish facing the new Red Devils defender after tying him in knots when CSKA beat Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago.

Early on Vlasic runs at Varane and capitalises on hesitation from the new Man United centre-back as he is left twisted on the floor before West Ham’s signing fires home in a 1-0 win for the Russian side.

West Ham’s new boy was named man of the match in that game too.

West Ham fans hoping for a similar outcome when Vlasic and Varane meet again after the international break

Ironically Vlasic’s first taste of action for West Ham at the London Stadium will come against Manchester United after the international break.

West Ham play Southampton away on September 11th before a trip to Vlasic’s homeland Croatia to play Dinamo Zagreb five days later.

The Hammers will then return to the London Stadium to play Varane’s Man United in the Premier League on the Sunday.

And West Ham complete a double header against Man United a few days later in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford.

West Ham fans will be hoping Vlasic’s Premier League reunion with Varane has a similar outcome.
