West Ham United boss David Moyes has fired back at his Mohammed Kudus critics with a very bold statement about the club’s new star boy.

There is an extra layer of excitement around West Ham right now and much of it can be attributed to the incredible coup of signing Mohammed Kudus.

Hammers fans have rightly been buzzing ever since the club somehow beat off a host of top sides to land the Ghana star for £38m from Ajax in the summer.

But David Moyes has been drip-feeding the Black Stars sensation into West Ham’s games so far.

One minute at Luton was followed by cameos from the bench in defeats to Man City and Liverpool as well as the win over Sheffield United last week.

Patience wearing thin among fans over new star boy

Kudus has started in Europa League and Carabao Cup victories over TSC Backa Topola, Lincoln and Freiburg.

He scored twice in Europe before dazzling against the League One side and was described as the ‘best player on the pitch by some distance’ by 5 Live Extra commentators.

West Ham fans have been calling for Moyes to bring Kudus into the starting XI where it matters most – the Premier League.

Particularly given Michail Antonio’s indifferent form and the fact West Ham looked much more fluid with their new-look front three in his absence over in Germany.

But there was frustration at the London Stadium when Kudus was once again left on the bench and got just 15 minutes on the pitch against Newcastle.

West Ham fans felt vindicated when he starred during his latest cameo and slammed in a wonderful first Prem goal for the Hammers to rescue a deserved point.

Many in the ground complained he should have started or at least come on earlier. It was felt that would have seen West Ham go on and win the match.

But now the manager has responded with a message to disgruntled supporters.

‘Trust my process’ says Moyes as calls grow for Mo

West Ham boss Moyes fires back at his Kudus critics with a bold statement.

Credit to the BBC Sport who had the awareness to ask Moyes a question fans actually want an answer to – which was exactly what Kudus has to do to get a Premier League start for the Hammers.

The Scot’s response is for West Ham fans to trust his process.

And he is also confident that the coveted 23-year-old will be at the club for years to come despite the level of interest in Kudus from Europe’s elite.

“He (Kudus) will be in the team for years to come so we are not in a huge hurry,” Moyes said matter-of-factly.

“The team is getting good results (so there’s no need to change at the moment).

“But he can play a big role in the future.”
