Former Hammers star Joe Cole hilariously took a pop at a reporter for his Millwall comments during West Ham’s European clash.
West Ham were in European action in midweek when they took on Freiburg in Germany.
For West Ham’s bitter rivals Millwall, it was a trip to Plymouth – and a 2-0 win – in the Championship.
The Hammers won their Europa League clash 2-1 to set a new English record of 17 European games unbeaten. That’s despite West Ham fans being banned from attending the game by UEFA.

Fans forced to tune in to TV coverage as a result of UEFA ban
As a result Hammers fans had to tune in to watch the match on TV instead.
Given the fierce rivalry between the Hammers and Millwall, it’s highly unlikely supporters of their oldest foes were doing the same.
So Millwall fans may have missed the fact their club got a mention during live coverage of the match on TNT Sports.

Joe Cole took a hilarious pop at a reporter for his Millwall comments during coverage of the West Ham European clash.
TNT Sports journalist and Bundesliga expert Archie Rhind-Tutt was previewing the game at Freiburg’s Europa-Park stadium when he suddenly mentioned West Ham’s old chums Millwall.
Trying to educate English fans on Freiburg, Rhind-Tutt described them as ‘the opposite of Millwall in that everyone likes them and they care about everything’.
It was actually a very clever comparison from Rhind-Tutt given the rivalry between West Ham and Millwall and painted a vivid picture of the kind of club Freiburg are.

‘You can’t just drop a mention of Millwall in like that!’
The reporter then cited an example of the community conscious club once closing the road outside their ground to allow a knot of endangered toads to cross safely.
The reporter’s out of the blue reference to Millwall caught the attention of former West Ham academy graduate Cole in the studio. And he was quick to pull him up with some tongue-in-cheek banter.
“Woah, hold up a minute you can’t just drop a mention of Millwall in like that before a West Ham game!” Cole quipped.
“There’s West Ham fans all over east London slamming their cups down right now after hearing Millwall mentioned.
“You can’t do that. There’s no need for it!”
