A big mistake made by David Moyes and David Sullivan was on full display during West Ham United’s win over Brentford last night.
West Ham manager David Moyes and the club’s co-owner David Sullivan made a catastrophic error recently, and it shone through brightly during our clash with Brentford at the London Stadium.
The Hammers have a really exciting first XI, there can be no arguing that. When everyone is fit and available, we’re a match for anyone.
However, outside of that we’re extremely thin on the ground. Moyes had every single senior player available to him last night apart from the suspended Kalvin Phillips.
Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals were both shipped out on transfer deadline day, apparently because they were desperate to leave the club in order to get more regular football.
That’s fine, if they wanted to leave so badly then Moyes or Sullivan clearly didn’t want to keep them in East London against their will.
However, the fact that neither of them were replaced quite simply isn’t good enough…

A quick look at our substitutes bench last night made for very grim ready indeed.
The options Moyes had available to him were Michail Antonio, Ben Johnson, Danny Ings, Angelo Ogbonna, Lukasz Fabianski, Nayef Aguerd, George Earthy, Divin Mubama and Ollie Scarles.
The latter three names are all academy players and out of the first five outfield players, only Antonio and Ings could be considered as players who could change the game from an attacking perspective.
With the Europa League set to resume again soon, and the chase for the top seven in the Premier League well and truly underway, the fact that we have so few options to mix things up is alarming.
We basically have to hope that Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus all avoid injuries between now and the end of the season, if we are to achieve any kind of success both domestically and on the continent.
It really didn’t have to be this way and more to the point, it should never have been allowed to happen. If Benrahma and Fornals had to be moved on, then at least one attacking player should have been brought in.
If it was impossible to do so, then either the Algerian or the Spaniard should have been kept at the London Stadium.
David Moyes and David Sullivan have absolutely no excuse for the state that our squad has been left in. As a result, it will be nigh on impossible for us to now achieve success in the Premier League and in Europe this season.
