Michail Antonio has made a worrying admission ahead of West Ham United’s Premier League run in and Europa Conference League semi-final clash with AZ Alkmaar.
West Ham have three Premier League games remaining this season, and a two-legged Europa Conference League semi-final tie with AZ Alkmaar to come.
Michail Antonio will be a key player for us over this next month or so, with Gianluca Scamacca out injured for the remainder of the season and Danny Ings having failed to impress so far.
The 33-year-old forward seems to have rediscovered his very best form of late.
And that’s what makes his latest comments so concerning in my opinion…
Michail Antonio comments don’t bode well for West Ham’s Premier League and Europa Conference League hopes
The powerful front-man has played a lot of games for the Hammers over the past few months, having not featured regularly during the first half of the season.
And when asked by Callum Wilson on the Footballer’s Football Podcast about how he’s feeling after the win over Manchester United on Sunday, Antonio responded by saying he’s very tired:
“I am tired bro. I am tired, it was an energetic game. End to end, and I think we should have maybe finished the game off sooner rather than holding out but we needed that three points! It was a fight, we are buzzing.”
Considering the fact that the out-of-form Danny Ings is the only other centre-forward option available to David Moyes at the moment aside from Antonio, Micky’s comments are slightly worrying.
We need the 33-year-old to be firing on all cylinders between now and the end of the season, both domestically and on the continent.
We have to assume that we’re safe in the Premier League. However, winning the Conference League will be an almighty achievement.
Let’s hope that Micky has plenty of energy left because as things stand, I’m not overly confident about Danny Ings.
