New video of MLS side Inter Miami’s new training facility is a stark reminder of West Ham’s most glaring deficiency.

Staying in the Premier League is all that matters for West Ham right now, that much is clear.

But if the Hammers continue to only focus on what is right in front of them the club will never grow and be able to compete off the pitch.

If the Premier League is considered the best in the world then MLS – with respect – ranks towards the lower end of the scale.

New MLS side Inter Miami have been in existence for just five years. So West Ham have a 123-year head start on David Beckham’s brainchild.

But it seems the US club is already light years ahead of West Ham off the pitch. Somewhat ironic given pie and mash loving Beckham hails from east London.

Now video of Inter Miami’s new training facility is a stark reminder of West Ham’s glaring deficiency.

The facility cost $60m (£48m) and is quite simply stunning.

West Ham’s training ground facilities are a running joke among fans, but in reality it is no laughing matter.

David Moyes has spoken in the past about wanting the Hammers to use some of the money invested by Czech billionaire co-owner Daniel Kretinsky to improve the training ground.

West Ham’s training facilities – at both Rush Green and the former first team base at Chadwell Heath – have long been criticised by fans, past players and managers. They are a constant source of embarrassment for supporters in comparison to other clubs. So imagine how the players feel.

At Chadwell Heath players who complained were famously told by long-serving club staff ‘It was good enough for Bobby Moore’.

But with West Ham facing a daunting task to try and re-establish themselves as a competitive force on the pitch next season – should they stay up – they are kicking the can down the road by failing to address one of the key elements to a successful club. And the gulf in class off the pitch is widening at a pace.

Hammers fans have seen most Premier League clubs, including the likes of Leicester, Tottenham, Brighton and even Championship sides Burnley and Norwich invest millions in top class training facilities.

Now a new video from Inter Miami has West Ham fans green with envy on social media.

Inter Miami’s new 50,000 square foot training centre is quite simply stunning. It includes six natural grass fields, a state-of-the-art gym, a locker room, a training room, a pool, hot tubs, ice baths and a fully-staffed kitchen. You can see video and pictures of it in the post below.

If MLS sides are stepping up their game then it really is about time West Ham did too.

After all, Miami have built this for less than one Lucas Paqueta.

If the owners are not willing to invest personal funds or ringfence some of West Ham’s vast income to build a new training facility, then at some stage the Hammers must sacrifice a big name signing to address the club’s most glaring deficiency.

It’s just too important an issue to continue to ignore.
