David Moyes absolutely raved about one West Ham United player after our 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest yesterday.
West Ham earned a vital three points against Nottingham Forest and David Moyes would have been delighted with the way that his players came back from behind to secure the victory.
The Hammers are now sitting inside the top half of the table, and everything is looking rosey heading into the third international break of the season.
The back-to-back wins over Forest and Olympiacos over the past four days saw West Ham complete a remarkable double, with Evangelos Marinakis being the owner of BOTH clubs!
Yesterday’s result really was a crucial one for us, and many Hammers fans this morning are thanking James Ward-Prowse for his two key contributions to the win.
It’s not only the West Ham supporters who were blown away by the 29-year-old’s display though, as Moyes offered huge words of praise for the former Southampton man after the match…
West Ham ace on fire vs Nottingham Forest
Moyes addressed the media yesterday after our hard-fought 3-2 Premier League win over Forest at the London Stadium.
And Moyes responded when asked about Ward-Prowse’s contribution to the three points, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“James Ward-Prowse’s assist record is unbelievable. If I was him, I’d probably be a bit annoyed the lads haven’t scored more from my deliveries. He’s on ten but he could be on 12, 13 or even 14. But I’m really pleased with him. His deliveries are world-class and today we’ve done enough to get the goals.”
The 11-capped England international has now bagged a remarkable two goals and 10 assists in 17 games in all competitions for the Hammers so far this season (Transfermarkt).
Ward-Prowse has added a completely different facet to our play. His obvious quality with his set-piece ability has made us far more potent from corners and free-kicks.
However, he is far from a one-trick pony, and when played in a more advanced role it’s clear to see what he brings to this team, what with his outstanding technical ability, composure on the ball and leadership skills.
We’ve just got to hope now that Moyes continues to deploy him further up the pitch for the remainder of the season, rather than in the deep-lying role.
His performance for West Ham against Nottingham Forest was match-winning one. And I have a funny feeling that there’s plenty more where that came from.
