West Ham United have completed a brilliant Evangelos Marinakis double, as David Moyes eased the pressure that has been mounting on him recently.

David Moyes has overseen a really poor run of results in charge of West Ham since the end of the first international break of the season, and recent claims suggested that he was dangerously close to losing his job.

However, the Hammers boss alleviated the pressure that was heavily mounting on him by masterminding consecutive wins against Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest respectively, meaning that we head off into the third international break of the season in fine spirits.

The two wins were hugely important for us, and the six points from the Europa League and Premier League games were accompanied by a really unique twist that really is unbelievably rare.

Greek media mogul and billionaire Evangelos Marinakis is the owner of Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest.

So the last few days will have been particularly painful to digest for the 56-year-old…

West Ham United’s Evangelos Marinakis double

The Hammers served up a double helping of pain to the Olympiacos and Forest owner with wins over the Greek and Premier league sides over the past four days.

I wonder if any owner of two separate clubs has seen both of his teams beaten by the same side within a matter of just four days? I can’t find any evidence of it occurring anywhere throughout the history of the game.

Moyes and West Ham have experienced our fair share of pain over the past two months, but it’s nothing compared to what Evangelos Marinakis must be going through this morning.

The back-to-back wins were the perfect antidote for the Hammers, after what has been a really tough spell for everyone involved with the club from top to bottom.

We can now head into December and the new year with a renewed sense of confidence and vigour, whilst Marinakis and his Olympiacos and Forest sides will very much be licking their wounds.

It’s onwards and upwards for West Ham though!
