Technical director Tim Steidten has spoken out on links to Liverpool and it doesn’t sound good for West Ham at all.

West Ham technical director Tim Steidten has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Hammers favourite is usually the one arranging transfers.

But amid interest from Liverpool, he could be one of the biggest signings of the summer for Liverpool.

Football Insider recently claimed Steidten is a leading contender to become Liverpool’s new director of football.

The report stated the Reds have identified West Ham’s recruitment chief as their prime target to replace the departing Jorg Schmadtke.

West Ham fans have been waiting to hear if Steidten would respond to the speculation.

But if they were hoping for an emphatic pledge to stay with the Hammers then they’d better think again.

Because Steidten has spoken out on Liverpool links and it doesn’t sound good for West Ham at all.

In an interview with Sky Sports Germany, Steidten admits he is flattered by Liverpool’s interest. The German states Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

And while he said he is planning West Ham’s summer transfers, he added ‘we’ll see what happens’ ahead of a rumoured summer switch to Anfield.

“I’ve heard that I am supposed to be on the list at Liverpool. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so it’s an honour.

“But so far nobody from Liverpool has contacted me yet. I generally feel very comfortable at West Ham. I quickly realised how intense this league is.

“Accordingly, we signed the right players in the last transfer windows. The squad is strong, so we can achieve our goals. I am looking forward facing the next weeks and months until the end of the season.

“Of course we are already planing the next window. What happens to the future, we will see.“

Ask any West Ham fan and they will tell you Steidten is one of the best things to happen to their club for some time.

So there has been understandable concern for the Hammers after it emerged Liverpool want to lure him away.

We exclusively reported that the top West Ham contact admitted it would ‘not be easy’ to stop Steidten leaving for the Reds.

And this interview seems to be laying the groundwork for exactly that to happen in the summer.
