The Thomas Tuchel pipe dream looks over already for West Ham after a big announcement on his future at Bayern Munich.

West Ham have been linked with an ambitious move to appoint Thomas Tuchel as a successor to David Moyes.

West Ham were actually linked with Tuchel the last time Moyes faced pressure over his job – in January last year.

Over the weekend two journalists claimed Tuchel is back on West Ham’s radar to replace Moyes – most likely in the summer.

Those journalists claimed Hammers technical director Tim Steidten is ‘confident’ he could lure Tuchel to West Ham.

On Monday we reported that Tuchel’s availability had moved a step closer with Bayern Munich set to part company with the German.

Well that proved to be the case today.

Tuchel pipe dream looks over already for West Ham

But the Tuchel pipe dream looks over already for West Ham after the big announcement on his future.

Bayern Munich have officially announced that Tuchel will leave the club this summer.

Tuchel has been under intense pressure to keep his job at Bayern, who sit second in Bundesliga – eight points adrift of Bayer Leverkusen – the former club of Hammers technical director Steidten.

They lost 3-0 to Steidten’s old side 10 days ago.

Then off the back of losing to Lazio in the Champions League in midweek, Tuchel saw his side lose 3-2 to midtable VfL Bochum last weekend.

Now a “mutual” decision to part ways has been announced. And that would naturally be seen as great news for West Ham’s hopes of making a “dream” appointment.

Spanish press suggest Tuchel could now be Barca bound

But it seems West Ham fans can forget about the ex Chelsea, PSG and Dortmund boss taking over at the London Stadium.

Because reports from Spain suggest he is all set to success Xavi at Barcelona instead.

Tuchel had already been linked with Barcelona when speculation was rife over his future at Bayern. It follows Xavi’s announcement that he will leave the Camp Nou this summer.

Now Football Espana reports that Barca have shelved any plans to appoint Hansi Flick following Bayern’s Tuchel announcement.

And he is now being widely tipped to take over at Barcelona, putting paid to any West Ham hopes.

West Ham’s big hope would be that – having kept his house in London after his Chelsea sacking – Tuchel wants to manage in the Premier League.

But the pull of Barcelona – and in the Champions League – is clearly bigger than that of managing the Hammers.
