West Ham United allowed Thilo Kehrer to join Monaco on loan earlier on in the January window.
Thilo Kehrer left West Ham to link up with Monaco on loan until the end of the season, and the Ligue 1 outfit have an obligation to buy him for around £10 million as long as he plays a certain amount of games.
David Moyes brought the 27-year-old defender to the Hammers from Paris Saint-Germain for around £10 million in the summer of 2022, but he failed to impress for us.
Kehrer did have some highlights, like his substitute appearance for West Ham in the Europa Conference League final back in June.
However, he clearly wasn’t suited to the intense pace and physical nature of Premier League football.
The fact that we’ve moved him on is a good thing. However, Kehrer’s reasoning behind his exit from the London Stadium really is baffling to hear…

Thilo Kehrer makes utterly bizarre claim about West Ham exit
The Germany international has been speaking to RMC Sport about his move from the Hammers to Monaco.
And Kehrer suggested that Moyes’s change of style this season meant that he had to leave:
“This season, the West Ham coach changed his style of team selection and play, and as a result I was no longer the first choice. I found myself with less playing time. That’s why I decided to try something new, and I’m delighted to have found AS Monaco. We had some good conversations and we talked things through. It’s a great club with a project that’s very interesting for me.”
I’m sorry? Change of style? What is this change of style you speak of Thilo!?
Moyes’s style has not changed one little bit. It’s been very much the same old sit back and allow the opposition possession, soak up pressure and try to hit them on the counter.
Besides, even if Moyes had changed the playing style at the London Stadium, that wouldn’t have impacted on whether he played the German defender or not.
Thilo Kehrer clearly just fell out of favour with Moyes at West Ham, it really is as simple as that.
