A new formation with a couple of fresh faces could save West Ham United from relegation this season.
The main problem for West Ham is that our tactics, system and formation have become stale over the past 12 months.

Opposing teams have become wise to the way in which we play and it must be said that David Moyes has failed to come up with an answer to that conundrum as yet.

As a result of our terrible form in the Premier League this season, the Hammers face the very real prospect of relegation down to the Championship.
If Moyes is prepared to change things though, West Ham will stay up without any trouble whatsoever in my opinion…
New formation will save West Ham from relegation
It’s clear to see that Moyes’s tried and tested methods just haven’t worked this season. The Scot will admit that himself, even if he only does privately.
So what options does the Scot have to really mix things up for our crucial clash with Southampton in 20 day’s time?
Moyes should switch to a 4-3-2-1 after the international break for our game against Southampton.
Commonly known as the ‘Christmas tree’ formation, the 4-3-1-2 would get the best out of our struggling summer signings in my opinion.
Gianluca Scamacca would flourish with a partner like Danny Ings, Michail Antonio or Jarrod Bowen. Said Benrahma could then be deployed in the number 10 role just behind the two narrow forwards.
Or if Moyes is so against playing the Italian, he could play Bowen and Ings or Bowen and Antonio as a two.
Then, in central midfield, Declan Rice can sit deep just in behind Lucas Paqeuta and Flynn Downes. If Moyes wanted to be even more adventurous, he could use Pablo Fornals or Manuel Lanzini instead of Downes.

Let’s walk before we can run though!
The back four would then consist of Emerson Palmieri, Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd and Vladimir Coufal.
Due to the narrow nature of this particular formation, the onus would be on Emerson and Coufal to provide the width, and I think both players are capable of doing just that.
If West Ham are to avoid relegation this season, we simply cannot keep doing the same things and expect different results. I believe that Moyes knows this and I am expecting big changes after the international break.
