West Ham United are reportedly eyeing up a surprise move for ex Leeds United director of football Victor Orta.

Victor Orta is on the radar of West Ham after his recent exit from Leeds ahead of the summer according to The Telegraph, as the club search for a new director of football.

Orta, 44, left Leeds by mutual consent at the start of this month after sending nearly six years at Elland Road.

However, he could be brought back to the Premier League to work alongside David Moyes, Mark Noble and Rob Newman at West Ham.

West Ham plotting shock director of football appointment

The Telegraph claims that Victor Orta is one of three men being considered by the Hammers, alongside Lee Dykes and Tiago Pinto.

The 44-year-old was a huge success during his time with Leeds, bringing some great players to Elland Road including the likes of Raphinha, Ben White and Wilfried Gnonto.

I would have nothing against Orta coming to the London Stadium. However, it must be said that Sullivan putting a stranglehold on transfers once again is a major concern.

Where would that leave Noble and Newman? Surely appointing a new director of football would make both their roles untenable?

It seems as though there could be big change afoot at the London Stadium this summer.

There is clearly something bubbling away behind the scenes. The thing is, if West Ham are successful in the Europa Conference League, it will be incredibly difficult for the owners to make a big change – namely bringing in a new director of football.

David Sullivan works in mysterious ways though, so it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if there were big backroom changes in East London this summer.
