A surprise Kurt Zouma claim has just emerged, only eight months after he was named West Ham United captain.

Kurt Zouma joined West Ham from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 for around £30 million, and he has gone on to be an exceptional player for us.

That was up until the end of last season at least. The Frenchman has deteriorated physically, with his knees proving to be a big problem.

Zouma missed 12 games for us last season through injury (Transfermarkt), yet David Moyes still decided to name him as the new club captain back in August – a decision that was utterly baffling at the time.

This season, the 29-year-old has struggled to walk at times, let alone run. He has missed four games due to knee problems, and could easily have missed more.

It’s no surprise really that David Sullivan tried to pull out of the deal to sign him three years ago after seeing the results of his medical.

Zouma’s form has been poor on the most part and if I’m being honest, it seems to me like he’s done at the very highest level.

And with the fact that he was made captain only eight months ago, a really surprise new claim has been made about the Hammers defender…

Surprise claim made about West Ham captain Zouma

The centre-back has looked like he’s been injured all season in truth, and that would explain his struggles.

It just seems like it’s massively problematic for him to get around the pitch without suffering any pain. That obviously isn’t conducive to playing Premier League football.

And now a new claim has emerged about Zouma…

According to a report from talkSPORT, the Hammers will listen to offers for our club captain this summer.

Selling Kurt Zouma under a year after making him club captain would represent quite the turnaround from West Ham.

I think that moving him on will be the correct call, but whether there will be any prospective buyers for the Frenchman remains to be seen.
