Stunning Julen Lopetegui sack claim will have West Ham fans dancing in the streets

Julen Lopetegui is under serious pressure at West Ham United right now, there are no two ways about that.

West Ham were hammered 5-0 by Liverpool on Sunday evening, and Julen Lopetegui cut a forlorn figure on the sidelines throughout the game.

David Sullivan and Karren Brady looked far from happy in the London Stadium stands when Liverpool’s fifth goal went in against the Hammers.

And it’s little wonder as to why – West Ham were truly horrendous against the Reds.

Lopetegui has failed in his role as Hammers head coach – it really is as simple as that.

It has been claimed that Lopetegui has the next two games – against Manchester City and Aston Villa – to save his job.

However, it seems like there has been a big U-turn at the London Stadium.

Julen Lopetegui sack claim will have West Ham buzzing

It has been an incredibly tough season for us all hasn’t it.

Despite a huge summer spend, Lopetegui has failed to take us to another level.

In fact, he has overseen genuine regression, which is quite incredible considering our struggles last season.

And now the Hammers board may be losing patience it seems.

According to a report from Give Me Sport, Lopetegui could now be sacked if we suffer a heavy defeat to Manchester City.

In spite of Man City’s struggles this season, that will obviously be possible, and they looked much more like their old selves during their 2-0 win over Leicester on Sunday.

If Lopetegui is moved on, it will 100% be the correct decision from the board, and it seems like a replacement for the Spaniard is ready to come in.

Graham Potter being lined up to replace Julen Lopetegui

Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is said to be waiting in the wings for the Hammers job.

The 49-year-old would take the Hammers to another level in my opinion, but it would be a long-term project.

Does every West Ham fan have the stomach for that? I’m not too sure.

What we will get with Potter is some exciting football.

He favours a possession based system with his players constantly interchanging positions with one another.

Graham Potter has been known to use up to eight different systems throughout games, and he is undoubtedly one of the most versatile coaches out there.

Julen Lopetegui’s days at West Ham are clearly numbered.

The Spaniard getting sacked is very much a case of when rather than if.
