Hammers star Vladimir Coufal has started for his country despite West Ham concerns and got an assist in the first minute.
West Ham were said to be raging over a messy situation surrounding absolutely key player Vladimir Coufal amid his ongoing injury concerns.
With West Ham likely needing 12 points from their remaining 12 games to stay in the Premier League, David Moyes needs all of his key players fit for the remainder of the season.
So eyebrows were raised when Coufal was one of 11 West Ham first team stars called up by their national teams set to be involved in a combined total of 21 games over the next week.
West Ham have been without Coufal since the 4-0 win over Forest last month due to a heel injury which can have a recovery timescale varying between one and six months.
Moyes revealed he was hoping to have the Czech defender back in contention for the huge relegation six-pointer against Southampton a week on Sunday.
So it is understandable that West Ham had concerns about his call-up to the Czech Republic squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers against Poland and Moldova.
Many assumed the right-back would not be thrust straight back into the action.
Well think again Hammers fans.
Because star Coufal started for his country despite the West Ham concerns and got an assist in the first minute.
Coufal was named at right wingback for the Czechs alongside West Ham teammate Tomas Soucek against Poland.
And within the first 60 seconds he set up Ladislav Krejci to put Czech Republic 1-0 up.
Just two minutes later West Ham duo Soucek and Coufal found themselves 2-0 up when Tomas Cvancara scored.
Coufal almost set up another goal before the break too. Let’s hope he comes through the match unscathed.
Elsewhere, West Ham stopper Alphonse Areola saw his place as back-up goalkeeper to new France number one Mike Maignon confirmed.
Areola was named on the bench for France’s game against Holland, which they are winning 3-0 at half-time.
