Speculation has been rife that West Ham will part ways with David Moyes this summer no matter what happens.
And rivals Tottenham Hotspur have been on the lookout for a new full-time boss since Antonio Conte left the club.
So, unsurprisingly, several names have been linked with both West Ham and Tottenham of late.
Managerial target merry-go-round is whirring
West Ham and Spurs are said to have been eyeing Mauricio Pochettino, Arne Slot, Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter and Vincent Kompany.
Each time it was the Hammers that were linked first.
Indeed it looked as though David Sullivan and the West Ham board would have a free run at some of those alleged managerial targets when Tottenham were reported to have been closing in on Julian Nagelsmann.
With Pochettino breaking Spurs hearts by agreeing to join fierce rivals Chelsea, reports then abound that Spurs had turned their attentions to West Ham target Kompany.

Now the Spurs obsession with reported West Ham targets continues as Daniel Levy is linked with a move for Spaniard Xabi Alonso.
Just over a week ago, West Ham were linked with a new name as a potential replacement for Moyes. That is ex Liverpool and Real Madrid star Alonso.
It was claimed the West Ham board are considering Alonso as a ‘real possibility’. The report states the Spaniard has emerged as a ‘strong candidate’ to replace Moyes.
Alonso has been winning admirers for the superb job he is doing at German side Bayer Leverkusen.
If Hammers part ways with Moyes, Spurs will be an issue
Now according to Sky Sports, Tottenham are trying to muscle in on the alleged Hammers target.
“Sky Sports News understands key figures at Spurs admire the former Liverpool midfielder, who took over at Bayer Leverkusen in October,” the report states.
“In that time he has led the German club from relegation contenders to sixth in the Bundesliga and the semi-finals of the Europa League where they will face Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
“Spurs are also impressed by Vincent Kompany, who has guided Burnley back into the Premier League as Championship winners this season.”
One thing is abundantly clear. If West Ham are parting ways with Moyes they will likely be competing with Tottenham for whoever replaces him. And that could be an issue.
