Sporting director Mark Noble has made the West Ham board’s expectations perfectly clear to manager David Moyes.
West Ham’s performances, results and expectations have been discussed at great length in recent weeks.
Especially in light of the backlash from West Ham fans which greeted David Moyes’ decision to rest key players for the drubbing at Liverpool in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
That generated debate over the expectations of Hammers supporters.
It also prompted a spiky response from Moyes himself who defended his record and questioned whether things can get any better for West Ham without state-funded investment.
On that subject, Jamie Carragher has warned West Ham fans they cannot have their cake and eat it.

Noble makes it clear what’s acceptable for Moyes
Moyes’ contract is up at the end of the season as things stand. And speculation has been rife over whether he will be offered a new deal.
Now someone who will have a say on that decision has spoken out on the expectations of the club’s heirarchy.
Sporting director Mark Noble has made the West Ham board’s expectations perfectly clear to manager Moyes.
Speaking to TNT Sports Discovery Plus, Noble says maintaining the current position in and around the top six while progressing in Europe is the expectation from above.
“What’s acceptable (for West Ham this season)?” Noble responded when pressed on the matter.

Board’s expectations made clear
“I think where we are now would be very acceptable in the league (around the top six), we’re in the latter stages of European competition, we won our group.
“Obviously you’ve still got the FA Cup but do I believe we can go further in the European competition? Yes.
“And I think if we keep winning the games that we should be winning in the Premier League then I think we can definitely stay where we are and that would be massive for us this season.”
There is nothing unusual about the fact West Ham have not yet had discussions with Moyes over a new contract.
Even if they do plan on extending the Scot’s stay, majority owner David Sullivan has a policy of waiting until the end of a season to evaluate such matters.
But it seems Noble has made it clear what the parameters will be for Moyes to earn that new deal.
