West Ham United right-back Vladimir Coufal was banished from the Czech Republic squad over the weekend.
Vladimir Coufal was sent home from the Czech Republic national team camp, after he and two others broke team rules.
The 31-year-old has since returned to West Ham, with preparations well underway for our Premier League clash with Burnley tomorrow.
Hammers defender Coufal has openly admitted just how ashamed he is of his actions, and suggested that he will never forgive himself for what he did.
In my opinion, that’s a bit over the top. He just needs to move on now and forget it even happened. I’m sure he will be included int he Czech Republic squad for the upcoming Euros next summer.
It seems as though West Ham as a club and David Moyes have welcomed the former Slavia Prague man back with open arms…
Vladimir Coufal back at West Ham after Czech Republic shenanigans
According to Claret and Hugh – a website with close links to David Sullivan, Coufal has been welcomed back with open arms by the club.
It is suggested that what happened during the international break changes absolutely nothing, and that the Hammers owners will activate a one-year contract extension option they hold with the 31-year-old.
Coufal has been a solid performer for us over the past three years, but I really feel like Moyes needs to make a big upgrade on the Czech defender.
Offering him a new one-year deal is fine, but we absolutely cannot go into next season with him as our first choice right-back.
In the modern day game, successful clubs need young, pacy, powerful and energetic full-backs who contribute sufficiently at both ends of the pitch.
Whilst Czech Republic international Vladimir Coufal is a reliable performer, he definitely is someone who I think we need to improve on, if we’re going to crack the top six in the Premier League and potentially win another trophy.
Hopefully David Moyes is thinking along similar lines to that sentiment as well.
