Michail Antonio has opened up on what he said to Callum Wilson after the striker opened the scoring for Newcastle against West Ham United on Saturday.
The Hammers earned a vital point at St James’ Park against Newcastle five days ago, and Davids Moyes’s men deserve huge credit having conceded inside just three minutes!

The Toon actually took the lead inside the first minute, but that goal was chalked off after VAR intervened. It was only 90 seconds later before Newcastle had the ball back in our net though.

West Ham battled back really well and secured a point after Lucas Paqueta’s equaliser.
That never quite materialised and Antonio has been speaking about the fallout from Wilson’s strike…
Michail Antonio lifts lid on what he told Callum Wilson after striker scored for Newcastle
The Magpies striker has a great record against West Ham. So it really wasn’t a surprise when he opened the scoring at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Wilson didn’t end up celebrating in Antonio’s face because the Hammers forward wisely chose to move out of the way next to David Moyes on the touchline.
And the 32-year-old West Ham striker shared what he later told Wilson during the game after he had bagged for the Toon, when speaking on the latest episode of the Footballer’s Football Podcast:

“During the game I actually went to him and went I’m still going to bag and get a brace in your face, I actually said it to him, after he scored his goal I went I’m going to get a brace and we’re going to win. I said you’re going to score a goal and we’re going to win the game. But it didn’t happen so you know what, it is what it is.”
Shouldn’t Micky have just kept quiet here?
I mean, had he scored a couple of goals and West Ham actually won the game, it would have been worth sharing that information. But he didn’t score and we only drew the match.
I don’t know, I just find it rather strange that Michail Antonio would make that admission about what he told Callum Wilson, especially when it didn’t come to fruition!
Sometimes it’s better to say nothing at all…
