West Ham United have an incredibly talented player on our hands, according to club legend Sir Geoff Hurst.

Sir Geoff Hurst is a hugely popular figure in West Ham circles, and whatever he says about the club is always taken seriously.

Hurst scored an impressive 248 goals in 499 games for West Ham. He won an FA Cup and a European Cup Winners’ Cup with the Hammers and of course, the World Cup with England in 1966 after bagging a famous hat-trick in the final against West Germany at Wembley.

The now 82-year-old played with some exceptional players at West Ham including the likes of Bobby Moore and Martin Peters.

He clearly knows what it takes to be a world-beater, so his latest praise for one Hammer will mean a lot, that’s for sure…

Sir Geoff Hurst says West Ham player is ‘absolutely brilliant’

The Hammers legend has been speaking to The Mirror about all things West Ham.

And Hurst absolutely raved about our Brazilian star Lucas Paqueta:

“Yes, fantastic, absolutely brilliant. It was a funny season last season, we finished up winning a trophy, things have improved again this year, Paqueta is fantastic.”

The 26-year-old returned to action for our clash with Brentford on Monday night, and his sheer brilliance reminded us all of just how much we miss him when he doesn’t play.

Paqueta has five goals and six assists in 28 games in all competitions for West Ham to his name so far this season (Transfermarkt), but his influence on the team reaches far beyond just goal contributions.

The fact that Sir Geoff Hurst is such a big fan of the former Lyon man tells us all we need to know about his quality.

Hopefully he remains injury free between now and the end of the season, because if he does, we definitely could achieve something special.
