Silver-tongued Simon Jordan is usually well informed on most things football but he has got it completely wrong on Amanda Staveley’s bid to take over at West Ham.

Hammers News has been at the forefront of Amanda Staveley’s interest in West Ham all the way back to 2024, after she had sold up at Newcastle.

We revealed the truth behind Staveley’s serious interest in West Ham last month.

Hammers News also exclusively revealed Staveley was still interested in West Ham despite Daniel Kretinsky increasing his stake following the resignation of David Sullivan.

Jordan gets it all wrong on Staveley’s ability to buy West Ham

In an interview last week, Staveley made it clear herself that West Ham are one of few clubs that fit her big plan.

That came after pictures emerged on social media purporting to show Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi being shown around the London Stadium.

What would you say if Amanda Staveley BOUGHT West Ham?

Staveley and Kretinsky could be quite the team… 📝 💰

Amanda Staveley, Director of Newcastle United acknowledges the fans following their side's victory in the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Arsenal at St. James Park on May 16, 2022 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Financier Staveley facilitated the game-changing takeovers at both Man City and Newcastle.

So it is understandable that West Ham fans are excited at the prospect of Staveley getting involved with their club following relegation from the Premier League.

Then along comes party pooper pundit Simon Jordan.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan stated that West Ham fans should take Staveley’s interest with a pinch of salt because she does not have the means to buy the club.

But Jordan has got it completely wrong on Staveley’s West Ham bid.

“Amanda’s done well out of it (the Newcastle sale),” Jordan said on talkSPORT, which you can watch in full below.

“She doesn’t have the means or the economics to buy a West Ham…

Staveley and West Ham takeover team worth billions

“They (Staveley and her husband) don’t have the money, they don’t have the money to go and buy a £500m football club, they’ll have to gear it, leverage it and find partners to come alongside them to do it and find themselves in a position where they can make some money from it.

“I doubt it (whether there is substance to Staveley’s interest in West Ham). I just think there is a way to operate and most of the time you get to hear about people doing deals when the deal is almost done.

What STOOD OUT to you in Daniel Kretinsky’s statement?

The 'Czech Sphinx' has big ambitions…

Czech businessman Daniel Kretinsky poses during a photo session on January 22, 2020, in Paris.

“You don’t get people flying kites left, right and centre because it gets some attention.

“You get to hear about the premise of someone proving up funds when they’re at the point when they’ve agreed the broad strokes rather than flying a kite to see which football club might be available.”

Thankfully Jordan has got it all wrong with his negative and pessimistic view of Staveley’s interest in the Hammers.

Firstly, it is longstanding – as reported by Hammers News back in 2024 when Staveley was weighing up a move for either West Ham or Spurs.

Staveley has zoned in on the Hammers since a move for Spurs was snubbed when Daniel Levy departed last season.

While Jordan may be right about her personal wealth, Staveley does have a £500m war chest set aside to invest in a club.

Jordan misses point as Staveley fronts US-backed Hammers bid

The key point Jordan is missing, though, is that Staveley’s interest in the Hammers is as the front for a US bid backed by a group of billionaires.

That fact has clearly passed Jordan by, despite top journalist Alan Nixon reporting it for months now.

Nixon revealed Staveley has put together a ‘takeover team’ of US backers with eyes on West Ham.

He also claimed she could return to Newcastle with his group of US billionaires if the Saudi PIF put the Magpies up for sale.

So time may be of the essence for West Ham United.

Especially as doubts remain as to whether Kretinsky actually has the appetite to own West Ham outright.
