West Ham manager David Moyes may well have performed a masterstroke by selling one player in particular.
David Moyes has received plenty of criticism from the West Ham fans over the past few years for his inability to get the best out of some of his attacking players.
Because of that, he’s had to move some of them on for cut-price deals. Sebastien Haller stands out as a shining example of that.
However, there is one player who the Scot was 100% right to sell, although it didn’t seem like that at the time.
Moyes sold Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta in the summer for around €30 million (£26 million) according to 90 Min.
He made a very good start to life with the Serie A outfit, but things have slowly started to unravel for the 6ft 5in Italian hitman.
Now, the 25-year-old’s inadequacies have been laid bare by the Italian media…

Selling player for £26m was a masterstroke from West Ham boss David Moyes
Corriere della Sera (print edition February 27th) let Scamacca have it with both barrels today, accusing him of not fighting and failing to sacrifice himself for the team.
The former Sassuolo man came on as a second-half substitute during Atalanta’s draw with AC Milan on Sunday, and he put in a truly awful performance.
Scamacca’s display lacked any kind of fight, courage, effort or enthusiasm, and any West Ham fan watching would have been thinking, ‘I’ve seen this before’.
The Italy international has fantastic technique and undeniable ability, but his application just isn’t there most of the time.
When Scamacca was sold in the summer, the majority of Hammers fans were absolutely fuming, me being one of them!
Getting £26 million for him now looks like an absolute David Moyes masterstroke though, and if he continues to lack the effort and motivation needed to make it at the very highest level, West Ham would have had an unbelievably good result by moving him on.
