West Ham United man rejects new contract after huge demands, according to a reporter with close links to David Sullivan.
David Moyes has a fair few players due to be out of contract at West Ham in the summer, so talks will undoubtedly be lined up to decide whether or not to extend some of those deals.
One of the players due to be out of contract with the Hammers at the end of the season is full-back Ben Johnson, and it was recently claimed that the club wanted to sell him for around £6 million.
The 23-year-old has barely featured for West Ham this season. In fact, David Moyes has given him just one minute of Premier League action this season, and 259 minutes in the Europa League and Carabao Cup combined (Transfermarkt).
Johnson has desperately failed to impress for the Hammers this term, but even so, it seems like the club want to tie him down to a new deal before his current one expires…

West Ham man rejects new contract
According to Claret and Hugh – a website with close connections with David Sullivan – claims that Johnson has rejected a new contract offer from the Hammers.
It is suggested that the defender is demanding a whopping £60k-a-week deal, or £3.12 million per year, to remain at the London Stadium. It is also claimed that Everton maintain interest in signing him.
I think that we should be looking to move him on at the very first opportunity – he has been absolutely woeful for us this season.
Johnson will be 24 next month. His regression over the past year or so has been really painful to witness.
When he came through the ranks and joined the senior team in 2019, it seemed like we had a really special talent on our hands.
The Hammers academy graduate now looks like a shadow of his former self though, and in my opinion, he’s nowhere near good enough to be playing Premier League football.
So the ‘West Ham man rejects new contract’ claims should be taken as good news. We shouldn’t be paying him anything like £60k-a-week.
