The West Ham United players have every reason to fight to the very end in the relegation battle this season.
West Ham are in real trouble at the moment, and are currently sitting just outside the relegation zone in the Premier League table.

David Moyes has found himself to be the target of real criticism over the last few months, and rightly so. The Scot hasn’t got the best out of his summer signings and refused to evolve and mix things up until only recently.
The Hammers don’t play another Premier League game until April 2nd – a clash with Southampton at the London Stadium.
There is plenty to be positive about – the fine form of Emerson Palmieri and Said Benrahma, the returns to full fitness of Kurt Zouma, Maxwel Cornet and Gianluca Scamacca and the fact that we have a nice run of home games coming up after the international break.
What if the unthinkable happens though and we do get relegated?
West Ham players face big problem if relegation battle goes the wrong way
According to the Telegraph, the West Ham players have relegation clauses in their contracts that would see their wages significantly slashed if we drop down to the Championship.
It is stated that those clauses were put into the deals of the big summer signings, although it is unclear if every single West Ham player has this clause in their contracts.
It is a very good job that the Hammers owners insisted on this clause being included in the deals of our players.
If West Ham end up on the losing end of the relegation battle this season, it could be an absolute disaster for the club financially.
However, the balloon payments and the fact that we will get big money for some of our players should counteract the loss in TV and match day revenue.
And some of our players getting their wages slashed will obviously help the cause financially as well.
Having said all of that, the bottom line is that the Hammers must avoid relegation at all costs this season. I believe that if Moyes is flexible and open to changing his starting XI and formation, we will have every chance of doing just that.
And relegation clauses in the players’ contracts will then become moot points in the summer.
