One West Ham United player has been named in the Premier League team of the week, despite the Nottingham Forest horror show on Saturday.

West Ham were quite simply awful during our Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest three days ago, and we subsequently lost the match 2-0.

Hammers boss David Moyes failed to inspire his team into even a half decent performance, and it has been claimed that the club’s owners were very annoyed with his post-match comments.

Pretty much every single West Ham player stunk the place out at the City Ground on Saturday – all bar one in fact.

Alphonse Areola put in a superb performance between the sticks, as he has done on numerous occasions for the Hammers already this season.

The 30-year-old made six saves against Forest, but he was helpless to stop us from conceding two goals in the end…

Sofascore have just named their Premier League team of the week, and included the likes of Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Manchester City’s Rodri.

However, there was a somewhat surprise inclusion of a West Ham player as well. Areola snuck into the team of the week, after a rating of 8:

The fact that we put in such a poor showing up in the East Midlands is why I’m so surprised that one of our players made the Sofascore team of the week.

However, Areola’s solid display came as no surprise whatsoever – he’s been one of our best and most consistent performers this season.

We’ve needed him to bail us out on numerous occasions, and his performance for West Ham against Nottingham Forest on Saturday was exactly what we’ve come to expect from him.

The fact that we’ve had to rely on the Frenchman so much this season is indicative of how bad we’ve been as a team.

Let’s hope that pattern doesn’t continue for the remainder of the domestic and continental campaigns!
