There was plenty of controversy both on and off the pitch during West Ham’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Callum Wilson’s disallowed 95th-minute equaliser was the biggest talking point from the match.

Almost everyone associated with West Ham feels aggrieved by referee Chris Kavanagh’s controversial decision.

However, it was not only on the pitch that the two rivals went head to head at the London Stadium.

Tensions spilled over in the stands towards the end of the game as the two fanbases were in polar opposite moods.

Sum up your feelings on that result if you can… 😢

Heartbroken is an understatement! 💔

Sky Sports journalist reports ‘ugly scenes’ at London Stadium

West Ham and Arsenal supporters were reportedly involved in physical confrontations towards the end of the game.

Several Gunners fans were spotted celebrating Leandro Trossard’s winning goal in the West Ham stands.

The Hammers supporters were understandably frustrated with the situation, especially under the circumstances.

Not only did Trossard’s goal cost them a point, but it could also relegate them to the Championship.

Therefore, it was not overly surprising to see fights break out in the terraces at the London Stadium.

“There are fan problems right in front of us. Fans are scrapping. Really ugly scenes,” wrote Sky Sports journalist Sam Blitz.

A devastating finale, but who was your West Ham MOTM? 😪

“There appear to be Arsenal fans in the West Ham end who celebrated that massive goal. ‘We’ll sit where we want,’ sing the away end.”

While nobody is condoning violence at football matches, Arsenal fans should never have been allowed in the West Ham stands.

The Hammers would be sensible to address this issue as soon as possible to prevent it from happening again.
