West Ham United’s defeat to Arsenal was a dramatic affair, with a late Callum Wilson goal ruled out by VAR.

Wilson, as he has done twice this season, appeared to have given West Ham United hope in their Premier League survival bid by firing an equaliser against Arsenal – who had taken a late lead through Leandro Trossard.

Give us your response to Callum Wilson’s VAR heartbreak? 😫

The right call? Or harsh on Pablo?

Pablo of West Ham United fouls David Raya of Arsenal before Callum Wilson (not pictured) scores a goal that is later disallowed following VAR review during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Arsenal at London Stadium on May 10, 2026 in London, England.

However, the goal was ruled out by VAR as West Ham United lost 1-0 to Arsenal because of a foul from forward Pablo Felipe on Gunners goalkeeper David Raya.

Given what it meant for both the relegation battle and the title race, it was the biggest call of the season and, sadly, it went against the Irons.

Fans on social media were not impressed after Wilson’s disallowed goal against Arsenal

West Ham fans fume as VAR rules out Callum Wilson goal

Following the culmination of a truly dramatic affair at the London Stadium, Hammers News asked its followers on Facebook and subscribers on TalkingPoints a simple question.

One supporter wrote: “Can’t jump for the ball nowadays.”

Another added: “Ermmmm Rice on Mavropanos and we should have been awarded a penalty.”

This fan claimed: “It was foul but why wasn’t the holding on Pablo or the foul on Mavropanos looked at?”

“But Rice on Mavropanos wasn’t?”

“Absolutely gutted!!! VAR again, it was always going to be,” read another response.

“Completely robbed! VAR has ruined the game,” said one unhappy supporter.

We asked what they made of the decision to rule the goal – which would have sent shockwaves around the Premier League – out was the correct one, painful as it may be.

One goal should not be so decisive for West Ham

It, clearly, was a painful end to the game.

However, to even be in a position where one goal can prove to be decisive is frankly ridiculous.

West Ham just haven’t done enough over 36 games to mean their fate is not decided by VAR.

Wherever one stands on the debate, they are not getting set to be relegated because of one goal.

The issues run so much deeper than that.
