Premier League announcement ahead of West Ham vs Brentford could be terrible news for Moyes

West Ham United are set to play host to Brentford at the London Stadium in the Premier League on Monday night.

The Premier League clash against Brentford will be a vitally important one for West Ham United, as we look to get our season back on track.

Hammers boss David Moyes is really feeling the heat right now, and the club’s owners are said to be extremely unhappy with the recent performances of the team.

West Ham have been absolutely awful over the past seven weeks, and we haven’t won a game since December 28th in all comeptitions.

Moyes desperately needs a win against Brentford on Monday night, in order for the pressure to be eased on him.

However, it seems as though there’s some bad news for the Scot ahead of the match…

Premier League announcement ahead of West Ham vs Brentford

The officials have just been named for the Hammers’ clash with the Bees.

The Premier League have confirmed that Simon Hooper will referee the game at the London Stadium on Monday night.

Hammers fans will be well aware of Hooper. He was on VAR duty for our draw away at Southampton last season when we were hit with an FA charge after the game, having surrounded the referee.

This came after referee Peter Bankes inexplicably blocked Jarrod Bowen from intercepting a Southampton player immediately before they scored, and VAR official Hooper failed to intervene.

Moyes blasted the 41-year-old after the match, suggesting that he ‘should have gone to specsavers’, and labelled the entire incident as ‘ridiculous’ after the official apparently didn’t even see the incident (The Sun).

The fact that Hooper will be the man in the middle for the West Ham vs Brentford clash in five days time doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence!

The 41-year-old clearly won’t like the fact that Moyes was so open with his criticism of him 18 months ago.

Let’s hope that Hooper’s performance doesn’t have an adverse impact West Ham United’s ability to beat Brentford in the Premier League next week.
