Paul Merson has explained why he’s not yet convinced by new West Ham United signing Crysencio Summerville.
Crysencio Summerville joined West Ham from Leeds United earlier this summer, for a fee believed to be worth around £20 million.
The Hammers fans are buzzing about seeing the 22-year-old winger in action, but Paul Merson clearly has some reservations about the Dutchman.
Summerville was absolutely electric for Leeds last season, with an impressive 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances to his name.
The young winger possesses electric pace, terrific movement and has real output inside the final third – three things that Tim Steidten highlighted when West Ham officially announced the signing.
I personally think he’ll be a brilliant player for us, but Merson isn’t convinced just yet…
Paul Merson makes Crysencio Summerville admission
The ex-Leeds ace is a big upgrade on Said Benrahma, there’s no question in my mind about that.
I personally cannot wait to see him in action for the Hammers – he’ll make a huge difference to our attacking play this summer.

Paul Merson predicted that the West Ham vs Aston Villa clash will end up in a 1-1 draw tomorrow, when writing his column for Sportskeeda.
And when doing that, he highlighted how he’s not yet convinced by Summerville.
“West Ham have bought well this summer, and will be hard to defeat,“ he said.
“Crysencio Summerville was ripping it up in the Championship last season, but he will now be playing against better full-backs – we will have to wait and see.“
Merson is right of course – the Premier League is far superior to the Championship, and everyone knows that.
However, the Dutchman possesses all of the attributes needed to succeed in England’s top flight, what with his explosive pace and direct playing style
The former Leeds man may well not start every single game for the Hammers, but he will undoubtedly be a very useful option for Lopetegui this season and beyond.
Remember, he’s only 22, and he will definitely continue to get better and better with every week that passes.
Paul Merson has voiced his concerns about Crysencio Summerville ahead of the new season though. Hopefully the 22-year-old will prove him wrong.
