A bad week got worse for West Ham United forward Pablo Felipe after he missed out on a Premier League award on Saturday.

Earlier this month, Pablo had been nominated for the Premier League’s Creative Moment of the Month Award following his flicked assist for West Ham United teammate Taty Castellanos during the win over Wolves in April.

If not Pablo – who plays up front? 🤔

The nomination came after Pablo was criticised by West Ham fans for a poor performance away at Brentford.

On Friday, just after Nuno Espirito Santo, Jarrod Bowen and Konstantinos Mavropanos were also snubbed for Premier League awards, Pablo met the same fate.

Pablo overlooked for new Premier League award

This particular award was only created back in January. Previous winners include Bruno Guimaraes, Dominic Solanke and Adam Wharton of Newcastle, Tottenham and Crystal Palace respectively.

On Friday, it was announced that Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo had won the award for April.

The England international scooped the award – which recognises “the best moments of creativity in the Premier League” – for his brilliant dribble against Brentford last month.

What changes would you make to this team and why? 👀

While certainly an impressive moment, it did not end in an assist because teammate Amad Diallo missed the subsequent shot after Mainoo had laid the ball off to him.

The flick against Wolves was a glimpse of Pablo’s quality but he has so far been unable to build on it.

The January signing is still chasing his first goal for the club and there have been calls for him to be dropped in favour of Callum Wilson.

Pablo has undoubtedly brought an energy and an industry to this West Ham team since arriving from Gil Vicente but moments of genuine quality – flick against Wolves aside – have been hard to come by.

His outing against Brentford was poor and it will be fascinating to see if Nuno sticks or twists with the 22-year-old for Sunday’s clash with Arsenal.
