West Ham trio are snubbed as Premier League make official announcement

Nuno Espirito Santo, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jarrod Bowen have missed out on Premier League awards after recent nominations for fine work at West Ham.

While the mood here in east London is low right now following West Ham’s defeat to Brentford and Tottenham’s win over Aston Villa, the club did enjoy a successful April, going unbeaten in their three league games to dream of survival.

To boo or not to boo, that is the question… 😂

Clearly, that doesn’t really make up for what happened last week as the Hammers slide towards relegation, but Nuno was nominated for the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award

Meanwhile, Mavropanos was nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month alongside the excellent Bowen.

All of them, however, were snubbed when the winners were announced this week.

Nuno, Bowen and Mavropanos overlooked for Premier League awards

On Friday, the Premier League confirmed the winners of both gongs.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola got the managerial award, while Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White won the player award.

What changes would you make to this team and why? 👀

Worthy winners, of course, and the fact that the three West Ham figures were nominated in the first place does feel like a long time ago now.

That is how quickly football works, sadly. The defeat to Brentford threatens to undo all the good work that West Ham had done until that point, particularly after Tottenham beat Aston Villa to plunge the Irons back into the relegation zone.

That doesn’t mean people should forget what Bowen, Mavropanos and Nuno did in the month of April and even before that. Still, even winning those awards would have been scant consolation following the defeat to the Bees.

The huge efforts that all three went to look to be in vain and missing out on the awards rubs a relative amount of salt into the wounds.

Onto Arsenal we go…
