West Ham finally repeat 2021 achievement thanks to Jarrod Bowen and Dinos Mavropanos

West Ham United duo Jarrod Bowen and Konstantinos Mavropanos have both earned a nomination for April’s Premier League Player of the Month award.

In doing so, this is the first time the Hammers have had two nominees for the monthly gong since August 2021, when Michail Antonio edged out Said Benrahma.

Antonio exploded out of the blocks with four goals and three assists in the opening weeks of that campaign, overtaking Paolo di Canio as the most prolific Premier League marksman in West Ham United’s history.

Some awe-inspiring April efforts… ⚽ 🌟

Captain Jarrod Bowen can relegate Di Canio into third place if he scores five times in the final four matchdays of 2025/26. That feels unlikely, of course.

Ending West Ham’s five-year wait for a Player of the Month prize may be a more realistic ambition, though he faces competition from teammate Dinos Mavropanos and a host of others in-form stars.

Mavropanos picked up four successive Hammers News Man of the Match awards during what is by far and away the most impressive spell of his English football career. While Bowen has been back to his ‘brilliant best’ – four assists in three April encounters – Mavropanos claimed a pair of goals and a pair of clean sheets.

Therefore, Bowen and Mavropanos become the first West Ham duo since Antonio and Benrahma five years ago – or 56 months, if you like – to earn a spot on the shortlist.

Some key battles all over the pitch… ⚒️ 🆚 🐝

Mateus Fernandes of West Ham United during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Everton at London Stadium on April 25, 2026 in London, England. Among the other nominees is Bournemouth playmaker Alex Scott. He scored a dramatic late winner against title challengers Arsenal.

Manchester City duo Nico O’Reilly and Rayan Cherki are among the candidates too, alongside Nottingham Forest’s recent hat-trick hero Morgan Gibbs-White, Leeds’ Old Trafford icon Noah Okafor, and Brighton’s evergreen schemer Pascal Gross.

Should either Bowen or Mavropanos claim the award, they will become only the seventh West Ham player ever to win a Premier League Player of the Month award.

Stuart Pearce, Anton Ferdinand, Scott Parker, Diafra Sakho, Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard have all taken home the prize before.
